Grooming Schedule Policy

At Wolfe Pet Grooming Studio, we believe in building lasting relationships with your pets. Since dogs experience time differently than humans—6 weeks feels like 8 months to them—we schedule most dogs on a 6-8 week maintenance schedule to ensure proper bonding and care.

Regular grooming offers numerous benefits:

  • Groomers can identify early health changes and concerns

  • Dogs become more comfortable with the grooming process

  • Prevents matting and associated skin issues like irritation, hot spots, and hematomas

  • Maintains cute styles and longer hair lengths

  • Reduces physical strain on both pets and groomers

All dogs must be scheduled, at most, every 8 weeks unless otherwise instructed by your groomer.

While we understand occasional rescheduling is necessary, chronic rescheduling that causes your dog to be regularly overdue may result in permanent removal from our booking system.

Michigan part-time residents may remain on our books as long as they maintain our schedule policy when present.

Cancellation Policy

Cancellation Fees

  • Over 48 hours notice: No fee

  • Within 48 hours: $25 per pet fee may apply

  • Same-day cancellations/No-shows: $25 per pet fee plus $25 per pet deposit required for future services

Special Circumstances

Emergencies
We evaluate emergency situations case-by-case. Please contact us immediately if unexpected circumstances arise.

Habitual reschedules/No-shows
Clients who frequently cancel or reschedule must make a non-refundable $25 deposit per pet, per appointment. This deposit can be applied to your service or kept on account for future appointments.

Our groomers provide gentle, individualized attention in a calm environment. Each appointment is a reserved time slot, and missed appointments impact our small business and grooming professionals.

Medications & Medical Procedures

Please inform us of any behavior-modifying medications before your appointment. We do not groom dogs on Trazodone as it impairs their ability to stand comfortably and hinders learning. We welcome natural alternatives like CBD and calming supplements.

Required Waiting Periods

  • Vaccinations: Minimum 48 hours

  • Dental procedures: Minimum 1 week

  • Spay/neuter: Minimum 2 weeks

Arrival & Pick-up Policies

Late Arrivals
Appointments more than 15 minutes late may need to be rescheduled to maintain our schedule. If time allows, additional fees may apply to complete services.

Late Pick-ups
We'll text you when your pet is ready. Late pick-up fees apply after a 15-minute grace period:

  • $5 for every 10 minutes after closing hours

  • $100 overnight fee if pet remains after closing

Early Pick-ups
Please wait for our text or call before arriving. Seeing owners before completion can upset pets and result in unfinished grooming.

Additional Services & Fees

De-matting
Regular grooming prevents matting. When matting occurs, additional fees apply:

  • First 15 minutes: Included with every groom

  • Additional time: $15 per 15-minute increment

  • Severe matting: May require clipping to skin level and could take an hour or more

Matted coats often require two cuts (before and after bathing) and are hard on equipment. We're not responsible for skin conditions revealed after mat removal.

Clean-up
Please walk your dog before appointments. $20 clean-up fee applies for repetitive accidents.

Health & Safety

Vaccinations
We don't require vaccination proof unless staff is bitten. Vaccination protocols are between owners and veterinarians—we respect your decisions regarding your pet's protection level.

Fleas
Fleas are common in the Dexter area. If discovered during grooming (often only visible when wet), we'll contact you and perform a flea bath. This kills current fleas but doesn't provide ongoing protection. Wait 2–3 days after grooming before applying topical flea medications.
